About me: Kerri Jacobs (she/her)
I led high performing teams at Google (in London, NYC and now the Bay Area) for over 15 years, where my roles included Head of Global Resilience and Head of Activation. My obsession with empathy in leadership and inclusion in every aspect of life led me to create the program and roll it out to leaders at Google and beyond.
I graduated from 2021’s Class of Stanford University's CCARE in collaboration with ACA’s™ Applied Compassion Training™ for Architects and Ambassadors of Applied Compassion. My study on Leading with Compassion in Big Tech addressed the suffering that occurs in even the most forward-thinking corporate spaces in the form of burnout, very high stress levels, staff attrition (especially among under-represented groups), low inclusion sentiment and low well-being sentiment. The project collected then shared survey data from 500 tech employees, bringing to life which behaviors from leaders amplify suffering, and then what tactical efforts can be made to reduce it.
Originally from Scotland, I used to read books, watch films and see a lot of Broadway shows, but these days I mainly anxiously scroll social media, doodle (IG account!) and comfort eat. In my life before business I taught dance, sang in piano bars and wrote a dance-in-education syllabus for the Scottish Education curriculum. My facilitation style is not to lecture - I’ve been known to share horror stories and lol-worthy moments from my own life as a manager, parent and partner and I try to keep it as real as one can when video conferencing from my living room.
I identify as a cis, white, straight female and acknowledge all the privilege that comes along with that. My goal is to facilitate in the most inclusive way I can, and I’m always learning.
