1. Spill…share with us what’s going on
We start with a conversation. Why ‘leading with empathy’ and why now? The more you can share about your organization and its values, challenges and people, the better we can customize the workshops. We don’t shy away from difficult conversations. We’re pretty unshockable and have seen it all, so don’t hold back. And there doesn’t have to be an issue before you engage us - even the best leaders need reminders and practice.
2. We’re going to ask two questions
We know from experience that data is crucial - and the more personal that data is the better your leaders will listen. We can survey your workforce or org (don’t worry - we have empathy for everyone’s time and inbox so it’s fast and effective) to gather anonymous data that will inform the content.
3. Time to flex those empathy muscles
Our customized workshops work best with intact management teams, but we’ve empathy for your to-do lists and calendars so we’ll accommodate your teams in whichever way is going to drive the most engagement. Typically we spend 60-90 minutes together for our initial workshop and then tailor follow-up sessions.
Your team will spend their time with us understanding what it means to lead with empathy in a conversational format. We hate the word interactive but it’s applicable here, honestly. How can we ensure (especially in a virtual world) we communicate with empathy? What does inclusion look like in practice and how can we build a system to make it second nature? In addition to looking at our data and yours, we’ll share dozens of tips from empathetic leaders and discuss how your authentic leadership philosophy can embody your values. Finally, we’ll look at empathy for YOURSELF, because if you’re hanging on by a thread (and let’s face it, who isn’t?) we need to care, but not carry. Kerri’s psychiatrist endorses this program!
